| Wu Xiangxiang is a famous historian in modern China.He has made great contributions to the history of people in the Republic of China and the court in the late Qing Dynasty.During his study in Peking University,Wu Xiangxiang was widely influenced by Meng Sen,Fu Sinian,Jiang Tingfu,Hu Shi and other teachers in the aspects of historical direction,historical materials and methods,historical insight,and writing style.After graduating from Peking University,he successively worked in Lanzhou University,Taiwan University and other universities.During the war of resistance against Japan,he "joined the army" and compiled war history materials in the military department.In the decades after he went to Taiwan in 1949,Wu Xiangxiang mainly studied the history of the Republic of China,and participated in the compilation and printing of many historical materials and academic series,which made great contributions to the development of modern Chinese history in Taiwan.In the process of his historical practice,Wu Xiangxiang often maintained cooperation and exchanges with overseas scholars.He had traveled to the libraries and archives in Europe,America,Japan,South Korea and Southeast Asia,and his life could be described as "traveling thousands of miles and reading thousands of books".Wu Xiangxiang has made great achievements in the study of modern and contemporary Chinese history,which has its own system and is full of unique features and unique insights.His historiography is of great research value.At present,there is only one academic dissertation focusing on the systematic research of his biography achievements,and several journal papers on some of his works.In a word,the academic circles have not fully summarized its history from the overall framework of the study of modern Chinese history.Its academic origin can also be sorted out from multiple angles.Wu Xiangxiang’s practice of governing history went through the continuous expansion and deepening of "from point to area" : in the early stage,he paid attention to the historical events of Qing Dynasty such as "laofoye" and "Xianfeng Xinyou coup",and wrote Real records of the late Qing Dynasty Palace;After moving to Taiwan,Wu Xiangxiang gradually turned to the research field of the history of the Republic of China.He took the people of the Republic of China as the main research objects and wrote many large-scale biographies,such as Biography of Mr.Sun Yat sen and Biography of 100 people in the Republic of China;His works,such as the History of the second Sino Japanese War,have also become important achievements in academic circles;In addition,in order to enrich and promote the study of modern Chinese history,he compiled and published a number of historical series,which included a large number of important historical materials.After a long period of practice and exploration,his rich historical works have gradually become "a relatively complete history of the Republic of China".Wu Xiangxiang’s rich works also show his rigorous historical materials and methods,unique historical insight,the historical function of "looking forward to the future" and the historian’s feelings of "patriotism and worrying about the times".Wu Xiangxiang has made great contribution to the development of the study of modern Chinese history,and has a great influence in the history circle at home and abroad. |
