Xue Shaopeng’s Artistic Style Of Cursive Script

Xue Shaopeng is a famous calligrapher in the Northern Song Dynasty.Gao Zong of the Southern Song Dynasty listed him as the four great calligraphers of the Northern Song Dynasty,together with Su Dongpo,Huang Tingjian and Mi Fu.However,because Xue’s calligraphy style was different from that of the Northern Song Dynasty,and Zhao Mengfu’s Retro calligraphy style dominated the whole country in the Yuan Dynasty,his cursive art value was gradually underestimated and ignored after the Yuan Dynasty,It leads to the author’s research on Xue Shaopeng’s cursive style.This paper is divided into three parts.The first chapter classifies his works from the perspective of style,and explores his artistic style and characteristics through comparison and analysis.The second chapter combs through the family background,combined with the collection and the influence of the times,explores the causes of its cursive style.In the third chapter,through the copying of his classic letters,we can feel the artistic charm of his cursive script,and then integrate with his own creative practice,so as to get inspiration and make great progress.
