Li Jiaji was a local official,poet,bibliophile,and calligrapher in Shaanxi Province in the late Qing Dynasty.In his lifetime,he wrote 2,919 poems,all of which were gathered in two collections named Jiang Shang Cao Tang Qian Gao and Dai Geng Tang Zhong Gao.His poems reflect the broad social life scene in the late Qing Dynasty,so they have practical meaning.Until now,no one has made a systematic study about Li Jiaji and his poems.Therefore,this paper will take those two poetry collections as the research object,investigate the life,friends and writings of Li Jiaji,and analyze the theme and content of his poetry,and summarize the poetry theory and characteristics.The core content of this paper is as follows:The first chapter is about Li Jiaji’s life story,friendship and writing.Before he became an official,Li Jiaji had visited Yunnan,Guizhou,Sichuan.When he became an official,he visited Shaanxi,Shandong and other places.Li Jiaji often makes friends while he travels,so he has a lot of friends.Among the many friends,fan Zengxiang,Li Shen,Tan Lin and Gu Lu of "Qing Men Ping She" had a great influence on Li Jiaji’s life and poetry writing.Li Jiaji enjoyed traveling and making friends all his life,and his rich life experience was often recorded in his literary creation.After textual research,the works that still exist and included in Li Jiaji’s collected works is as follows: Li Jiaji has five literary creations,such as Jiang Shang Cao Tang Qian Gao,Dai Geng Tang Zhong Gao,Yu Sai Ji Xing Lu,Dai Geng Tang Za Zhu,Qian Yang Shu Gu Bian;There is a book that cataloged the books collected by Li Jiaji all his life,called Five Wanjuange Bibliography Records;Li Jiaji also edited and published eight works of others.The second chapter is the theme and content of Li Jiaji’s poetry.Li Jiaji’s poems are mainly divided into three types: traveling poems,Chang-he poems,and lyric poems.The traveling poems record the natural scenery,historical sites,customs and culture of various places that Li Jiaji traveled.The Chang-he poems mainly described the farewell and party activities between Li Jiaji and his elders,friends,sons,and nephews.This type of poem is based on the daily life of Li Jiaji.The lyric poems is mainly about Li Jiaji’s feelings of missing his hometown due to frequent travels and officialdom.It also describes Li Jiaji’s sorrow when his wife,daughter,and friends have passed away.At the same time,it also expresses the depression of Li Jiaji’s caused by the national crisis and common people’s hard life.The above three types of poems not only record the places that Li Jiaji visited all whole of his life,but also record the changes of his emotions in his whole life.In addition,Li Jiaji’s poems also reappear the broad social life in the late Qing Dynasty.The third chapter is about Li Jiaji’s poetry theory and artistic characteristics.There are two points in Li Jiaji’s poetry theory: One is to learn the methods of poetry writing of many outstanding poets.The second is to recount real life with poetry.he used poetry to record history as his standard of poetry writing.His poems that record history reflect the reality of society,and also have the spirit of "Feng Ya".Those poems are conscious inheritance of traditional realistic poetry.There are two main artistic characteristics of Li Jiaji’s poems: One is that the poetic style of Li Jiaji is variety.Li Jiaji learned the method of poetry writing of many people throughout his life,for example,before he became an official,he learned Zhu Yizun and Wang Shizhen who live in the early Qing Dynasty.When he became an official,he was influenced by the outstanding poets of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty,especially Du Fu,Du Mu and Lu you.It is the reason why Li Jiaji’s poems are so differences in style.The poetry created in his early life is more elegant,and the poetry wrote in his later life is more simple and unadorned.The second is that Li Jiaji’s poems are characterized by melancholy and desolation on the emotional tone.Li Jiaji concentrated his sorrow for himself,the woe of country,and the sadness of common people in his poems.This is the mainly reason that Li Jiaji’s poems reflect the characteristics of depression and desolation.As a poet in the late Qing Dynasty,Li Jiaji was not exist alone,instead he built the poetry community of the late Qing Dynasty with many traditional poets.The poetry writing of Li Jiaji’s reflects the inheritance and development of Chinese classical poetry when people faced with great turmoil in the times in the late Qing Dynasty.
