Abstract/Summary:
As the act of production of target information in synchrony with the presentation of the original information, simultaneous interpreting(SI)is always regarded as the most difficult interpreting task by many theorists all across the world.Meanwhile, pieces of information are bricks for completing an interpreting project.Due to the complexity of SI and its features, loss of information is generally regarded as inevitable.Against this backdrop, this thesis is intended to study information loss in the E-C simultaneous interpreting. Two remarkable SI models with different perspectives,Pochhacker’s interactant model of the interpreting situation and Stanzl’s communicative information flow model, are adopted in this thesis as references. The differences and the possible reasons of information loss in E-C simultaneous interpreting between four professional interpreters and six trainee interpreters are studied.According to the different performances and factors, the author generates strategies for other practitioners and provides suggestions for the classification and complements for models if possible.Exploring solutions to the information loss helps to effectively promote personal interpretation ability and benefit following work.Additionally, the thesis’s achievement can possibly be applied for the future interpretation teaching.
