Due to the rapid development of economy and the transformation of population structure, the aging of China’s population is deepening.Under the increasingly severe situation of "getting old before getting rich" and "getting old before getting ready",it has become an inevitable choice for China to promote the "Sinicization" of active aging. The policy framework of "active aging" includes three elements of "health","participation" and "security",of which "health" includes physical health, mental health and social health of the elderly,"participation" is one of the spiritual needs of the elderly, and "security" includes economic security, service security and spiritual security of the elderly. However, the reality is that China’s old-age security system is mainly an economic security, and the spiritual security is relatively lacking. This system defect will not only seriously affect the quality of life and overall development of the elderly, but also have a negative impact on social stability and development, which is not conducive to the construction of a harmonious socialist society. This study firstly sorts out the research related to active aging and the mental health, spiritual needs and spiritual security of the elderly through literature review, and defines the concepts of active aging, mental health, spiritual needs and spiritual security. And then on this basis,to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,ERG theory, theory of social relief valve, spiritual governance theory and the social support theory as the support, using the data from the 2018 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CLHLS),a descriptive analysis and correlation analysis were conducted on the mental health status and spiritual needs of the elderly in China.According to the relationship that mental health is the realistic basis of spiritual security and spiritual needs is the logical starting point of spiritual security,Combined with the analysis results and relevant literature to the discussion of the present situation of the elderly spiritual security in China, points out that there are some problems such as the mental health status of the elderly in China is not optimistic, the lack of spiritual needs to meet, and the spiritual security system is not complete,so as to draw the conclusion that China needs to improve the spiritual security of the elderly.According to the above analysis on the current status, draw lessons from foreign successful experience, and put forward the corresponding countermeasures,in order to establish a comprehensive, appropriate and efficient spiritual security mechanism,to meet the spiritual needs of old people, improve the mental health of old people,so as to improve the quality of life of the elderly, and promote social harmony and stability.
