| The main purpose of the review class is to organize the scattered knowledge have learned into the process of knowledge structure.In the process of reviewing,students learn to build a clear knowledge structure to facilitate the extraction of knowledge.It is a common concern for educators to use effective review methods to improve students’ achievement and ability to organize knowledge in the review class.According to the characteristics of the divergent thinking of the human brain,mind map presents the knowledge according to different themes,emphases,relevance and so on in the form of structural diagrams with its rich colors,lines and graphics in order to promote the mastering and memory of knowledge in the human brain.Mind map has been widely used in new classes,such as English vocabulary,reading,and grammar classes.However,it is limited research of applying mind map to English review class in junior school.Therefore,based on the constructivism theory and knowledge visualization theory,the author takes 41 students in Class 228 of Jincheng No.5 Middle School as the research subject and puts forward two research questions:(1)What effect does mind map have on the students’ English achievements?(2)What effect does mind map have on helping students to construct the knowledge structure in English review class?Students in the experimental class accept mind map in English review class,while students in the control class accept the traditional review methods.After the one-term experiment,the author draws the following conclusions by analyzing the students’ achievement,questionnaires and interviews.(1)Compared with the control class,the students’ English achievements has improved significantly in the experimental class after the experiment.(2)Students can integrate scattered knowledge into a logical knowledge structure using the advantages of structure and visualization of mind map.The thesis provides some implications for the teaching of mind map in English review class.Firstly,teachers should be aware of the importance of teaching methods in review class.Secondly,teachers should have different emphasis for evaluation of mind map in different learning stages of learning.Thirdly,teachers should constantly remind students not to ignore the true function of mind map used to summarize knowledge in teaching.This study has fully proved the feasibility and validity of the mind map in junior high school English review class.However,there are some limitations,such as the limited research data and limited subjects.The author hopes that this research can provide some reference for experts and teachers in the review class. |
