Study On Opera And Talking-and-Singing Literature Of "Gengzi" Theme

After the Gengzi Incident,which shocked the whole world,opera and talking-and-singing literary works about this theme appeared one after another,which can reflect the social appearance and people’s psychological state at that time.However,the research on this kind of works in the academic circle is still not thorough and needs to be further explored.This research consists of two parts:one is to continue to collect works on the basis of A Ying’s "Literature Collection of the Gengzi Incident".A total of 7 kinds of legend and Zaju,1 kind of local opera,1 kind of play,1 kind of Tanci,and 8 kinds of Shi Diao(popular tunes)were obtained,which doubled the number of existing works on the basis of A Ying’s "Literature Collection of the Gengzi Incident".Among the works that have not been noticed by scholars are Legend of Wuqiao Prison","Yiluan Hall","Gengzi Record","Sending Youth"(in imitation of Sending Youth style),"Lament for Nation"(in Wu Geng tone)and "Song of Current Affairs"(in imitation of Wu Ge style).The second is to put these works under the historical background to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth analysisThe Gengzi Incident was a typical example of chaos from above.The forces advocating the destruction of foreign countries hoped to consolidate their political power with the help of the Boxers,which belonged to mysterious forces and eventually led to disaster.This great historical event stimulated the creation of opera and talking-and-singing literature and enhanced the correlation between opera and talking-and-singing literature and current affairs.Zaju like "Tears in Dry Well" and Yanzhi Well" focus on palace figures,"Legend of Shu Juan Cry" and "Legend of Chunpo Dream" focus on grass-roots officials,"Legend of Wuling Spring" and "Chief of Boxers" have almost no plot,but only express feelings and advocate political views with the help of opera.Some works are no longer able to see the whole picture,such as"Legend of Wuqiao Prison","Yiluan Hall”,and "Dream of Robbing Grey".The whole history of the Gengzi Incident is set up in "Gengzi Guobian Tanci",and the author processes the historical materials according to subjective feelings."Shi Diao Singing" belongs to Shi Diao designed by intellectuals to enlighten the public after the national disaster."Current Affairs" and "Gengzi Record" focus on Beijing city after the event.The historical significance of recording current events,the literary significance of artistic treatment,and the practical significance of awakening the world are complementary to each other,so that the opera and talking-and-singing literature of the Gengzi theme have a position that cannot be ignored.
