| The informative text is a kind of text that conveys the real-world things and phenomena to readers, aiming at accurately and completely reproducing the text information.Informative text plays a vital role in the process of conveying information to readers. Therefore, the translation of informative texts attaches great importance to the creditability, accuracy, and readability of information in the text. From the perspective of Skopos Theory, this thesis aims to explore the translation strategies of informative texts by taking the E-C translation of the website of the“International Cities of Peace" as an example.Skopos Theory is developed by Reiss and Vermeer in the late 1970s.Skopos Theory argues that each text has its purpose. The translator should make decisions in translation by serving the purpose of the text itself and adopt appropriate translation strategies. In translating the case of the "International Cities of Peace",the author combines the skopos, coherence and fidelity principles of Skopos theory. Then the author discusses the choices of translation strategies in translating texts from the aspects of words, sentences, and paragraphs. In the process of translation, the author focuses on the real meaning of the source language rather than the literal meaning, reproducing the source language information in an acceptable way for the target readers.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,by analyzing the specific cases taken from the source text, the author tries to show how to choose translation strategies and methods of translation difficulties.Based on the analysis of specific translation cases, the author summarizes some translation methods, such as addition, omission, and annotation, combining with the characteristics of informative texts and the expressive habits of the target language, and clarifies the important value of Skopos Theory in the translation of informative texts. |
