Yuanshi wuliang duren shangpin miaojing is short for Durenjing, which was listed as the first sutra in Zhengtong Daozang of Ming Dynasty, known as the head of all the scriptures.Four Notes on Yuanshi wuliang duren shangpin miaojing is the most important version of the Durenjing, which was made by Yan dong of the Nanqi Dynasty,Li Shaowei and Cheng Xuanying of the early Tang Dynasty,Xue Youqi of the period of Emperor Xuanzong, and collected by Chen Jingyuan of the Northern Song Dynasty.Taking four people’s notes on the same work as the research object,it is not only helpful to understand the Taoist ideas conveyed in the scriptures, compare the different styles of the four people, but also of great value to the study of exegesis. This thesis is based on Zhengtong DaoZang of Ming Dynasty, which was jointly photocopied by Wenwu Publishing House,Shanghai Bookstore and Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House in 1988.This thesis makes an exegetical study of Four Notes on Yuanshi wuliang duren shangpin miaojing. This thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which first introduces the textual content and the research overview of Durenjing and Four Notes on Yuanshi wuliang duren shangpin miaojing, then explains the origin and significance of this thesis, and finally introduces the research ideas and methods of the thesis. The second chapter is "The study of the exegetical content of the four notes",which mainly introduces the exegetical content of the four notes from seven aspects, such as explaining the meaning of words, interpreting the meaning of the sentence, expounding grammar, explaining rhetoric, recording astronomy, narrating history and explaining ideas. The third chapter is "The study of the exegetical method of the four notes".Firstly, the two concepts of exegetical method and exegetical modes are distinguished, and the definition of exegetical method is made clear. Then, the exegetical methods used in the four notes are summarized from five aspects, namely, the method of seeking meaning according to sound, the method of seeking meaning according to ancient precepts, the method of induction, the method of examining text examples and the method of seeking meaning from culture. The fourth chapter is "The study of the exegetical modes of the four notes".Firstly,it defines the exegetical modes.Secondly,it introduces the exegetical modes used in the four notes, which mainly includes se ven kinds of exegetical modes, such as direct explaining, semantic boundary, description, analogy, enumeration, from reverse to positive and from additional words to full meaning. The fifth chapter is "The study of the exegetical terms in the four notes",which mainly introduces the exegetical terms used in the four notes, including the terms used for interpretation, the terms used to explain functions and the terms used for sound explaining. At the end of this chapter,it also analyzes and explains several unique terms and the special usage of common terms. The sixth chapter is "The comparative study of the style of the four notes".Yan Dong was born in the Southern Qi Dynasty,Li Shaowei and Cheng Xuanying were born in the early Tang Dynasty, while Xue Youqi lived in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The style of the four scholiasts is distinct and unique, and each has its own merits. This chapter compares and summarizes the specific differences of Yan Dong,Xue Youqi,Li Shaowei and Cheng Xuanying.Through the above study,we hope to provide some reference for the exegesis of Taoist scriptures, and make up for the deficiency of Chinese exegesis in the research of Taoist literature.
