With the acceleration of economic globalization and the advent of the digital era,the field of business is undergoing rapid changes.In order to adapt to the changing economic environment,more and more people are getting to know and learn business.In this context.there is a strong demand for English-Chinese translation of business books.The text of translation practice is selected from Business:A changing world,a book of the essential material needed to teach introduction to business.It provides an overview of the world of business in a simple but normative way by combining conceptual definitions with concrete examples.Chapter 13 of the tenth edition is about digital marketing and social networking in business,including the changes that digital media has brought to business,enterprise marketing strategy and consumer choice in the digital era,potential problems under the network environment,etc.The main points covered in this chapter keep pace with the times,which is fairly practical.The concepts related to digital business environment and social networks are also well suited to the public as general knowledge in today’s constantly growing economy and technology.Therefore,the author chooses Business:A Changing World(Chapter 13)for translation practice in order to provide a Chinese version of the chapter on digital marketing and social networking for non-English majors and those interested in business.In the practice report,the author first analyzes the selected text to learn and master the background knowledge and research content,and then plans the translation task.In the stage of translation preparation,the author defines the function and type of the text.Guided by the theory of functional equivalence,the author adopts a form that is conducive to the expression of the target text’s function.Meanwhile,the formation of the glossary and the preparation of required translation tools and books also go on at this stage.Then in the process of translation,the author defines and classifies some difficult problems in practice,such as the comprehension of word meaning,the limitation of part of speech,the omission or implication of semantic elements,the angle of view of expression,the processing of clauses and complex long sentences,etc.After that,she proposes the corresponding solutions to the problems listed above.The issues are analyzed with examples and considered in translation theories.The practice report explores the purpose and strategy of translation in informative text and seeks for the rules of English-Chinese translation of the same texts.At last,a summary is given about the achievements and experiences as well as the problems and shortcomings existing in translation practice.The translation practice aims to play a supporting role in Chinese for readers interested in business.This can help them understand the development of digitalization and the application of digital media in global business,which is of great value.Meanwhile,the practice report analyzes and studies the translation of informative business texts.It classifies the common problems of Business:A Changing World(Chapter 13)during translation and puts forward the specific methods and techniques.It is hoped that it can provide some reference for English-Chinese translation of similar textbooks or business texts.
