A Study Of War Writing In “Sixty Melodies”

War has always been one of the themes of literature,and war and operas are also closely related.There are few early drama scripts handed down today,most of them are unknown.However,from the existing literature and scholars’ textual research,we can find the stories of Song and Yuan operas contain many war narrative element.By the Ming dynasty,Ming legend is flourishing.War plots frequently appeared in Ming legend,involving various subjects,and were used in various stages of the development and prosperity of Ming legend.This phenomenon attract our attention.This paper starts from the war plot in MAO jin’s "Sixty Melodies" and takes his war writing as the research object.It is expected to discuss the war writing in "Sixty Melodies" from the aspects of narrative characteristics,narrative function and the reasons for the frequency of war plots by sorting out the war plot in "Sixty Melodies".This paper is divided into six parts.The introduction mainly introduces the purpose,significance and research status of the topic,and defines the concept of "plot".The first chapter sorts out the war in ancient literature and opera.The second chapter sorts out and lists the plays with war plots in "Sixty Melodies" and discusses their different presentation in different times.Chapter three narrates and analyzes the war plots in "Sixty Melodies" from three aspects: highlight prewar,the combination of the real and the imaginary,and the attitude of "the king’s standard".The fourth chapter discusses the role of the legendary war narrative from three perspectives: the narrative characters,the promotion of the plot and the highlight of the theme.Chapter five analyzes the reasons for the frequent occurrence of war plots in "Sixty Melodies" from three aspects.First,it inherits the literature works related to war of the previous generation literary works.Second,the choice of the open narrative of Ming legend;Third,The selection of real historical themes under the background of war in Ming dynasty.The purpose of this paper is to make readers have a basic understanding of the war narrative in "Sixty Melodies" through the study of the war narrative in "Sixty Melodies",and on this basis to understand the Ming dynasty society and literati creation mentality behind the war narrative in "Sixty Melodies".
