| Chen Xu is an important writer in the literary circle of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.He has made great achievements not only in poetry and novels,but also in opera.Chen Xu has made seven opera works,except the legend of White Butterfly,the remaining six are all existing,respectively: The Legend of Peach Blossom Dream,the legend of Falling Flower Dream,the legend of Hua Mulan,the legend of Tong Huajian,the legend of Beautiful Red Chamber and the legend of Free Flower.However,there is no detailed research on Chen Xu’s opera works,so this paper comprehensively analyzes Chen Xu’s opera works.First of all,this paper combs the publication and publication of Chen Xu’s opera.This paper analyzes the content and ability of his seven opera works,further studies the ability of the previously unknown "white butterfly legend",and analyzes his creative motivation combined with his life.In addition,the characters in Chen Xu’s opera are divided into three types: the talented man,the loyal and chaste woman,and the feudal and greedy villain.Secondly,it discusses the artistic characteristics of Chen Xu’s opera works: in terms of structure,Chen Xu pays attention to the combination of the virtual and the real,is good at entering the opera with dreams,and can flexibly use the poems on the stage;in terms of opera language,Chen Xu inherits the two characteristics of the traditional opera language and elegance,and writes the romance with elegant language and the legend.In the use of palace tunes,Chen Xu is able to flexibly use the forms of Qupai such as Jiqu and Taoqu.Thirdly,the thesis sorts out Chen Xu’s Opera ideas in newspapers,preface and postscript.Chen Xu has no special Quxue works,so his concept of Quxue has not been centralized before.Chen Xu paid attention to the early accumulation of spectrum recognition in the creation of traditional Chinese opera.He thought that the proportion of binbai and Quci should be appropriate,and that traditional Chinese opera has the function of saving the world.Through the study of his opera works and concepts,we can know his position in the history of opera in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.In addition,the paper also combs several new plays created by Chen Xu.The plot of Chen Xu’s new play is tortuous,which shows the obvious feature of the integration of Chinese and Western drama when it first came to China.Through the performance of Chen Xu’s new plays,it can also confirm the prosperity of new plays in Shanghai and other places at that time.Finally,it discusses Chen Xu’s teaching activities in opera when he set up correspondence society.He taught opera mainly through correspondence and periodical examples.He published many of his disciples’ opera works in Wenyuan guide record and Xuyuan magazine,most of which were specially modified by Chen Xu.Through the comparison between the original and the revised works,we can also understand Chen Xu’s concept of opera creation and his attainments in Quxue. |
