The Report On CAAI’s Website News Translation Under The Guidance Of Translation As Adaption And Selection Theory

As the economy develops and globalization accelerates,academic exchanges between China and other countries are more frequent.In the Internet era,the official website of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence(CAAI for short)plays an increasingly important role in establishing the image of the association and promoting academic exchanges.High-quality English-Chinese translation of CAAI’s website is an important prerequisite for accurate information conveying and increasing academic exchanges.The translation materials of the translation report are the weekly tasks completed by the author during her internship at CAAI.The author analyzes the linguistic features at lexical and syntactical levels of the original text.Under the guidance of Eco-translatology theory,the author analyzes the difficulties encountered during translation:appropriate translation of culture-loaded words,four-word phrases and proper nouns at lexical level and proper translation of no-subject sentences and long sentences at syntactical level.Through analysis,the author finds that the adaptive transformation from linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension can effectively solve the translation difficulties.To enhance the readability and accuracy of the translation and show the important role of the translator in cultural communication,the strategies of addition and conversion are adopted for translation of culture-loaded words,four-character phrases and proper nouns.The methods of changing the sentence structure,annotation and amplification are adopted in translation of long sentences and no-subject sentences,so that foreign readers can understand the text better.There are five chapters in this translation project report.Chapter one is the introduction to the research background,objective and the structure of translation report.Chapter two is the literature review.One is the studies on website news translation and the other is the studies on Eco-translatology.In chapter three,the author will introduce theoretical basis of the translation report-Hu Gengshen’s theory:Translation as Adaption and Selection.Chapter Four is the core of the report,which mainly deals with the analysis of the source text and the case study on translation of CAAI’s website news under the guidance of the TAS theory with some specific translation strategies.Finally,in chapter five,the author will make a brief conclusion for the translation project report.Through writing this translation report,the author has a deeper understanding of the web news translation from the perspective of adaption and selection.She hopes that the translation report can provide references for the following website news translation.
