Eco-translatofogy is a new translation theory put forward by Hu Gengshen,a celebrated professor with Tsinghua University.Rather than an independent field of study,it is an ecological translation view or an ecological approach to translation studies.Eco-translatology focuses on the integrity of translation ecology and interprets the translation process from the perspective of translational eco-.enVironment.Eco-translatology describes the relationship between the translator and the translational eco-environment.Furthermore,the theory focuses on the living circumstances of the translators and their development of translation abilities.By referring to Charle,s Darwin’s theory of evolution,Eco-translatology focuses on the adaptive and selection theory by expounding the translation process, the translation principle, the translation method and the evaluation criterion in details. The translation text selected in this paper is a piece of nevs that describes in details the cause, the process and the effect of World War I.Its original language is objective and true, which conforms to the requirement of news language.According to some reliable researches,Eco-translatology has been used in maly fields of translation, but its "Three Dimensional Transformation" method has been rarely applied to news translation. As a result, the writer writes this paper with a view to making use of translation method put forward in Eco-translatology to render the target text as authentic as possible. The paper consists of four parts. The first part mainly introduces the meaning of this paper, the definition and the classification of news as well as a brief introduction of the selected news. The second part mainly introduces Eco-txanslatology,especially its exposition of translation principle, translation process, and translation method and evaluation criterion.Past research in this regard is also summarized. The third part, which is the main body of the paper, analyses the adaptive and selective process of translation specifically. The fourth part is the conclusion in which the writer sums up the uses of"Three Dimensional Transformation" and points out some limitations in the course of writing this paper. |
