With the implementation of the reform on elementary and secondary education and quality education,reflective teaching has attracted more and more scholar’s attention at home and abroad.At present,most of these researches on reflective teaching focus more on teachers,and the importance of the students,another subject of teaching,is a surprisingly neglected area.However,it can not be denied that both teachers and students,as the two main subjects of teaching,take important role in teaching.Therefore,the students should not be ignored by the study of reflective teaching.This study focuses on investigating students’ English reflective learning of senior high school,finding out the problems in English reflective learning and the causes of these problems,which may provide a basis for the further development of reflective learning.Based on some reflective learning theories and researches on reflective learning at home and abroad,this study is done by surveying 309 students in Binzhou Senior High School,Xian Yang,Shaanxi Province,and interview and questionnaire,including two dimensions: awareness and strategy of English reflective learning,are used as research instruments.The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of English reflective learning of senior high school students?(2)What are the differences and problems of English reflective learning among different grades?(3)What are the causes of the problems of English reflective learning of senior high school students?By analyzing the data from questionnaire and interview,with the help of SPSS 17.0,findings of the present study can be concluded into three aspects:First,the current situation of English reflective learning of senior high school students is at a medium level(2.5<M<3).The senior high school students have strong awareness of English reflective learning,in comparison,the application of strategy of English reflective learning of senior high school students is not good enough,and there are some differences in the use of strategy.Second,there is no significant difference in awareness and strategy of English reflective learning among different grades in senior high school.When it comes to awareness of reflecting on English learning outcome,there are some differences among three grades,in detail,students’ awareness of reflecting on English learning outcome in Grade One is stronger than that of the other two grades.In general,the awareness and the application of strategy in Grade One is best in senior high school.Students’ awareness of English reflective learning is strong,while the application of strategy needs to be improved,especially the application of strategy of reflecting on learning goal and outcome.On the contrary,the awareness and the application of strategy in Grade Two is not so good as Grade One and Grade Three,and there are some problems in both the awareness and the application of strategy of English reflective learning,particularly the awareness of reflecting on learning goal,the application of strategy of reflecting on learning goal and outcome.As for Grade Three,the students realize the importance of English reflective learning,but they do not make good use of the strategy of reflecting on learning goal and outcome.At last,the causes of the problems in English reflective learning of senior high school students are divided into two aspects: internal cause and external cause.Internal cause refers to the degree of students’ understanding of English reflective learning and learning initiative,while external cause is teacher’s guide and teaching atmosphere in this study.According to the research findings,some teaching implications for improving the current situation of English reflective learning of senior high school students are concluded.For teachers,it is important to know more about English reflective learning and give students comprehensive and accurate guidance,and it is necessary to change teaching methods appropriately to create a relaxed learning atmosphere.For students,they should develop the habit of active learning and strengthen the communication with their classmates and teachers.
