The textbook is an important curriculum resource,but not the only one,it is also an essential basis for teaching.Reasonable teaching materials redevelopment is a requirement for teachers? professional development in the new round of curriculum reform.At present,many regions are still using New Senior English for China(2004 version).However,the reading materials in this set of teaching materials deviate from the students? real-life experience,which are not updated in time.Thus,teachers? reading materials redevelopment has a positive influence on high school English reading teaching.This study will base on the theories about Krashen?s Theory of Comprehensible Input and the Constructivism Learning Theory.It will choose 40 English teachers from a demonstrative senior high school in Beihai as research subjects to explore English teachers? reading materials redevelopment from NSEFC(2004),and elaborate on analyzing and discussing the overall situation of teachers? reading materials redevelopment by questionnaire and interviews.The study mainly focuses on the following research questions:(1)What is the overall situation of the teachers? beliefs and practices about the reading materials redevelopment?(2)What are the achievements and problems in teachers? reading materials redevelopment?(3)What are the factors affecting teachers? reading materials redevelopment?The research results indicate that: 1.According to the questionnaires and interviews,it was revealed that the English teachers of this demonstrative senior high school have a definitely teaching purpose and the correct awareness of teaching materials and teaching resources.Language,methods,structure,and content are redeveloped to meet the needs of different teaching situations.2.Teachers have also achieved certain teaching results,which meet the requirements of Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)for students ? independent learning ability,reading teaching scenario creation and other aspects of English reading teaching;to a certain extent,they have increased students? interest in English reading.However,the teachers? practices and reflection on reading materials redevelopment still need to be strengthened and to guarantee the teaching materials redevelopment scientifically and rationally.Lastly,educational administration also needs further to improve teachers? teaching environment and curriculum resources.3.The factors that affect teachers? redevelopment are teacher factor(professional literacy),learner factor(demand,level),school factor(teaching arrangements,teaching and research evaluation),educational administration(resource construction,teacher training).Finally,based on the results of the above research,the author puts forward some suggestions to teachers,educational administrators,and students.For teachers:(1)Study textbooks,develop and integrate course resources;(2)Strengthen teaching reflection and promote professional development;(3)Improve the comprehensive perspective of lesson preparation;(4)Strengthen cooperation with peers.For administrators:(1)Arrange different further training for different types of teachers;(2)Improve the appraisal system,encourage teachers to devote in teaching research;(3)Reduce non-teaching tasks,and make reasonable teaching arrangements.For students:(1)Give feedback on teaching materials to teachers;(2)Provide life experience as a resource for teaching material redevelopment.Due to the limited time and conditions of the research,there are still limitations in this study,and the researcher hopes that it can be further improved in future studies. |
