Along with the revocation of the former curriculum material program "one standard,one textbook",another tide of pedagogical notion "one standard,multiple textbooks" was advocated by the New English Curriculum Standard(NECS),more than ten versions of English textbooks have been in use nowadays.In order to shift from blind textbook followers to active textbook re-developers,teachers are encouraged to use the textbooks creatively and scientifically as well as integrate the textbooks with other teaching materials to optimize the teaching effectiveness within a given time unit without increasing the burden on the students.What needs to mention is that the textbooks,as the carrier of knowledge,still maintain the core part of curriculum resources.Therefore,how to make scientific and appropriate redevelopment of the textbooks in primary and middle school deserves great research attention.In this research,the author adopts a case-study to study the methods of the textbook redevelopment of Go For it!aiming at answering the following questions:1)What are the methods of the textbook redevelopment used by the teacher?2)What are the influential factors in the different methods of the textbook redevelopment used by the teacher?3)What are the practical patterns of the methods of the textbook redevelopment used by the teacher?The author observed 20 English classes by a veteran female teacher who has been teaching English for about 32 years in Luxiang Middle School to find out the main methods of textbook redevelopment done by the teacher,and then the author designed the questionnaire and invited the teacher to fill in;To better understand the results of the questionnaire,the author also interviewed the teacher.And the class Maria teaches was used as the "experimental class".Besides,to guarantee the credibility and validity of the results,in comparison,the author also observed 20 English classes by a novice teacher Nancy who is teaching another class of the same grade,and the class Nancy teaches was used as the "control class".According to the results of the research,the author finds the teacher adopted the three following patterns of methods of the textbook redevelopment:1)Adopt the methods of addition,extension,modification,replacement,re-ordering;2)Set teaching and learning objective as specific as possible.3)Use integrated teaching methodology and intensive instruction and training approach.However,Former researches of textbook redevelopment paid little academic attention to the teachers' teaching tact when facing complicated teaching situations.These will be the further research focus of the author.
