| Basic emotion can play an important role in the process of Second Language Acquisition and communication,but its role has been underestimated in the pedagogical field(Dewaele,2012;MacLntyre,2002).Recently,the importance of emotion has been perceived by researchers,and more and more researchers have paid attention to the impact of emotion on second language acquisition.Self-efficacy and Hope,as two very important emotional factors in positive emotions,have also received attention.This study takes 647 high school students from 5 different places as the research subjects,and uses a combination of questionnaires and interviews to explore the relationship between Self-efficacy and Hope in English learning,and raises the following questions1.What is the level of Self-efficacy of high school students in English learning?2.What is the level of Hope of students in English learning?3.What is the correlation between Self-efficacy and Hope in English learning?4.What is the correlation between English learning self-efficacy,hope and English performance?The results show that:(1)High school students’ English Learning Self-efficacy is at a high level(M=3.94;SD=1.096);(2)High school students’ English learning Hope is generally at a high level(M=3.59;SD=1.046).Among the two dimensions of English Learning Hope,the mean of Pathway thinking is higher,ranking first(M=3.80;SD=1.067),which is higher than the overall level of Hope;the mean of Agency thinking is second(M=3.39;SD=1.133),the level of Agency thinking is at a low level,and it is lower than the overa Hope level;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between English Learning Hope and English Learning Self-efficacy(P<0.05 r=0.863),and a significant positive correlation between Agency thinking and Self-efficacy(P<0.05 r=0.808)There was a significant positive correlation between Pathway thinking and Self-efficacy(P<0.05 r=0.836);(4)Self-efficacy in English learning can affect students’ English achievement more.Self-efficacy in English learning(Beta=0.392),Hope for English learning(Beta=0.188).According to the research results,this study puts forward some suggestions for teaching:(1)Grasp the influencing factors of Self-efficacy in English Learning and improve students’ Self-efficacy;(2)Grasp the influencing factors of Hope in English Learning and improve students’ Hope;(3)Pay attention to the relationship between Self-efficacy and Hope,and obtain satisfactory results. |
