On E-C Text Analysis Of The World Bank Annual Report 2019 Under Functionalism

The World Bank,an influential multilateral development financial institution,has been playing an important driving role in global economy.The World Bank Annual Reports are mainly English and translated to other languages to provide references for different countries and governments.They cover a large amount of text and various financial statements,which not only convey real and effective information but also pay attention to the understanding of the audience.Those professional translations become an important text for translation research.The thesis adopts the World Bank Annual Report 2019 as the analysis of the text,aiming to study the effective E-C text analysis under the guidance of functional approaches to translation.The theoretical foundation of the research is functionalism,adopting the data-based,descriptive,and qualitative methods,trying to analyze related defining terms.The study on the E-C translation of the World Bank Annual Report is through a large number of examples,probing into its characteristics and text functions as a hybrid text,pointing out the importance of analyzing the source text in the process of translating annual reports,and simultaneously summing up which factors that need to be taken into consideration in the translation-oriented text analysis model to achieve the intended purpose of communication.The thesis puts more emphasis on using the theory of functionalism,adopting feasible translation strategies and objective criteria in translation to a large extent handle the difficulties culture and language between English and Chinese,and achieve effective transfer from English to Chinese.
