The Origin And Interpretation Of Cercle Artistique Du Midi

The radio drama “Cercle Artistique du Midi” is a historical story about the work of the famous Chinese playwright Tien Han at Shanghai Art University and the effort he has put in the establishment of the Nanguo Art Institute.The play tells the story of Tien Han,who is the director of Shanghai Art University from December 1927 to February 1928,actively organizes and carries out artistic practice activities.However,Tien Han eventually establishes the Nanguo Art Institute after the former school is unable to operate due to various reasons,such as the seizure of teaching materials.As a graduation work,the radio drama “Cercle Artistique du Midi” is divided into three episodes: The first episode,takes "moving the school" as the main line,reviews the development of Shanghai Art University and depicts the story among Tian Han and his friends and students.In the second episode,Tien Han decides to set up Nanguo Art Institute in collaboration with Ouyang Yuqian and Xu Beihong,following the two events of "Yunni Opera" and "the seizure of teaching materials".The next episode presents the preparation and opening ceremony of Nanguo Art Institute through the interaction between students.In the February of 1928,a group of artists such as Tien Han and Xu Beihong,who have engaged in art teaching and practical activities are also involved in drama,literature and painting.As a private art institute which is not sponsored by the government and is responsible for its own profits and losses.In addition to maintaining the effective conduct of art teaching,it explores a road different from that of civilized drama for the operation of new drama.Other than the summary of the content of the radio drama,this thesis also explains the structure,language,music and sound effects of the historical radio drama,so as to better shape the main characters and promote the story.I hope that by taking this opportunity,the works of art based on historical research can be transmitted by radio drama,and more young people with lofty ideals can rediscover this period of history and have a deeper understanding of it.
