The poetry in paintings in the Song Dynasty are an important part of the poetry in paintings in ancient China.The poetry in paintings in the Song Dynasty,and to classify according to the subject matter of poetry in paintings,can be divided into the poetry in landscape paintings,plant paintings,animals paintings,figures paintings,etc.Preliminary statistics has been indicating the poems in plant paintings in the Song Dynasty to the total amount of more than 300,to card through the poetry in paintings of Sun Shaoyuan’s “Sound Paintings Category” in the Song Dynasty,Chen Bangyan’s“The Past History of Poetry in Paintings Category Appointed by the Emperor” in the Qing Dynasty,the contemporary Li Dexun’s “The Past History of Poetry in Paintings Category ” and so on,as well as referring to “A Complete Collection of Poetry in the Song Dynasty”compiled by the Institute of Ancient Literature Studies of Beijing University.It can be also divided into the poetry in flower paintings,in bamboo Paintings,in woods paintings and so on,and to classify according to the subject matter of more than 300 of poems in plant paintings.The painting difficulty of the plant paintings and animal paintings is lower than the landscape paintings and figures paintings,the painting skill request is not high.So the theme of Literati’s Paintings in the Song Dynasty is mainly subjected to the plant imagery of plum-blossom,bamboo,pine,orchid and so on.It was more suitable for the Literati and officialdom game mentality and also presented “odd”,“strange”,“old”,“hard” aesthetic preferences.This is a reflection of the aesthetic fashion of the Literati and officialdom in the Song Dynasty and also a strong proof of the mutual promotion between the Literati’s Paintings and Literati’s Poetry.The Literati’s paintings influenced the creation of poetry in the plant paintings and the artistic style of the poetry in the Song Dynasty,to a certain extent,and wheres it then promoted function for reposed mood and freehand brushwork,plant personification of the Literati’s Paintings.Meanwhile the concrete expression of the poetry in the Song Dynasty for changing the painting scene into the true feelings,and expression ture feelings and freehand brushwork with specific plants,and pursuance the state of “the fusion of thing and self”.These poetry in the paintings all reflected the explorationand practice of the theory of “Poetry and Paintings Uniform”,“Poetry and Paintings Mutual Benefit” in the circumstances of “Interaction between Poetry and Paintings”in the Song Dynasty: The painters avoided the realistic details to express the temperament and rhythm of the object or the sentiment of the subject,the poets avoided the explanation of the concept and went into the original state of things.The Literati and officialdom in the Song Dynasty tried to understand the artist’s ingenuity,to interpret the artist’s inner feelings,and to retell it in the form of language and words,to achieve a sound and color,emotion and rhyme artistic effect in the poetry in the paintings.
