Funerary objects of models are one kind of burial wares which imitate people’s real life and production.Through systematic sorting of materials and on the basis of existing typology research,this paper divides the funerary objects from Han tombs in Jianghan region into three categories: one is architecture,which refers to buildings,courtyards,warehouses,wells,stoves and latrines.Second,tools,including mills,carts,boats,etc.;Third,the terra-cotta figures,including the terra-cotta figures of various shapes and forms and the terra-cotta figures of all kinds of poultry and livestock,were analyzed by typology.On this basis,combined with the achievements of the Han tombs in Jianghan region and the research results of historical geography,the funerary objects in Han tombs from Jianghan region are divided into three regions: western Hubei,northwestern Hubei and eastern Hubei,and the regional characteristics are summarized by stages.After the comparison of the three zones,it is found that there are regional differences in four aspects of model burial wares in Jianghan region,such as the time of their appearance,the combination,the main popular types,and the proportion of the number of unearthed model objects in the total number of tombs.On the basis of typology research and division by stages,this paper compares the funerary objects of models from Han tombs in Jianghan region with the funerary objects from Guanzhong,Luoyang and Xuzhou regions,and concludes that the generation and development of funerary objects in Jianghan region are closely related to Guanzhong and Xuzhou regions,and the four regions tend to be the same in the eastern Han dynasty.By sorting out the placement of model illuminators,it is believed that the change of the placement of model illuminators during Xihan ang Donghan dynasty reflects the process of the burial custom in the Han dynasty from following the rites of Zhou to pursuing the mansion of tomb to the greatest extent. |
