Many customs in modern social life are often based on traditions,they are derived from changes in the customs and habits of ancient societies.The practice of giving gifts in funeral activities in real life is a good example.This custom should have been handed down from ancient times.We can prove it through the qiance unearthed in the Chu region tombs during the Warring States Period.The qiance is a bamboo list of funerary objects,it is well preserved in Chu region tombs.It often records the name of the person who gave something,or the official title of the person who gave the gifts,clothes,horses or carriages,etc.It can get a lot of useful information from it.Through the study of the qiance and unearthed articles of Chu region tombs,one can understand the customs or institutions of the society at that time and help us to understand ancient social life;on the other hand,through comparative analysis,we can deepen the formation and development of relevant customs in modern society profoundly and comprehensively.So far,total 10 batches of qiance have been announced,no matter completely or partially during the Warring States Period.This article is divided into four chapters for discussion,to complete the analysis and research of this batch of materials.Chapter 1 is the preface,first of all,several related concepts such as qiance,gifts,etc.are defined.Then the purpose and significance of this research are demonstrated,and the current research status of related issues is also understood.Chapter 2 begins with an overview of the excavation and relocation of the tombs,and then highlights the matching of the records of the requisition and the unearthed objects.Chapter 3 is mainly to comprehensively comb the tombs of these 10 Warring States period from the perspective of grade and gender in order to have a better understanding of the tomb materials.Chapter 4 is mainly to combine qiance records and unearthed articles of the type and placement in the tomb,which distinguish these kinds of items as"gifts" which is not a "gift",and then explore the source of these "gifts",finally,draw a conclusion.
