A Textbook Analysis Of The Key Competences

Abstract/Summary:
The coming of the era of knowledge economy in the 21 st century puts forward higher requirements for personnel training.In the process of education reform around the world,China also tries to build a core literacy system that is in line with the national conditions.In 2014,the Ministry of education put forward an important concept of core literacy for the first time,which attracted wide attention in the education community.In the 2017,senior high school English curriculum standard pointed out that language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability are the essential qualities and key abilities of the key competences.Classroom teaching is the key to the implementation of core literacy,and teaching materials are an important carrier to connect teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.Based on the four dimensions of the core literacy of English subject,according to Cheng Xiaotang’s interpretation of the core literacy of English subject,and based on the six elements integrated concept of English learning activities,the elements analysis method and constructivism as the theoretical basis,this paper analyzes the text of the compulsory English textbook for Senior High School of human education edition,and through the classroom records of the teachers in the internship school and the questions of the teachers in different stages of senior high school This paper attempts to explore the following questions:(1)which parts of the PEP textbook reflect the cultivation of students’ core competence in English discipline?(2)How can teachers make full use of teaching materials to cultivate students’ core quality? Through the analysis,the author thinks that the six parts of the textbook,i.e.,“ reading,learning about language,using language,summing up,learning tip and reading for fun”,play an important role in the cultivation of students’ language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability,but there are also some problems in the cultivation of thinking quality and learning ability.Based on the above analysis,the author puts forward some suggestions on how to use teaching materials to cultivate students’ core qualities:(1)reasonably adding and deleting teaching contents;(2)creatively designing cultural teaching,to grow students’ cultural consciousness;(3)designing learning guidance plan before class to cultivate students’ learning ability;(4)design learning guidance plan before class,and cultivate students’ learning ability;(5)teachers should deepen their studies on English core qualities and improve their professional quality.Finally,it points out the limitations of this paper.
