As online games have gradually become the main way of leisure and entertainment for young people,people are paying more and more attention to the impact of online games on young people.In recent years,online games have become more and more complex,with more diverse and diverse social functions.People can play games through a variety of interaction methods,the most common of which are cooperation and competition.Previous studies have agreed that competition will be offensive,while cooperation will reduce offensiveness and increase post-game cooperative behaviors.Some studies have shown that short-term contact with two-person video games suitable for children ’s peer interaction and prosocial behavior development is more beneficial.Compared with competitive games,young children can be encouraged to love their partners,but the research on teenagers is scarce.This study uses questionnaires and experiments to explore the effects of online game interactions on peer relationships and prosocial behaviors in the two typical game interaction modes of cooperation and competition in online games.This study consists of three sub-studies.A pair of 497 junior high school students conducted a questionnaire survey to understand the basic status of Junior high school students online game use.Studies 2 and 3 used experimental methods to investigate the impact of different online game interaction methods for teenagers with online virtual peers or real-life peers.The main conclusions of the study are:(1)The results of Study 1 found that 80.9% of junior high school students use online games;The game time on weekday and peer relationship are significantly negatively correlated;The game time on weekend and social value are significantly positively correlated;Meanwhile,social value and peer relationship are significantly positively correlated,and there is a significant positive correlation between peer relationship and prosocial behavioral tendency;game time on weekdays can significantly predict peer relationship,and the number of game peers and social value can significantly predict peer relationship.(2)Study 2 found that when the game player’s relationship is a stranger on the internet,the game interaction method has no significant effect on peer relationship and prosocial behavior level.(3)Study 3 found that when the game player’s relationship is an offline friend or a recognized non-friend relationship,the game interaction mode has a significant impact on the peer relationship and prosocial behavior level.Under the cooperative game interaction mode,the peer relationship and prosocial behavior level are higher;the effect of online game player relationship type on peer relationship and prosocial behavior is not significant.Therefore,junior high school students should be actively guided to reasonably arrange game time,properly play online games with their peers,enhance communication,and select appropriate game playmates and game interaction methods to play games to promote the healthy development of their peer relationships and pro-social behavior.
