Wang Anyi’s Identity Dilemma In Shanghai Writing

Wang Anyi has been favored by literary critics since he entered the literary world in the 1980 s,and has also gained many readers.Wang Anyi initially appeared in the public eye with her debut work "Rain,Sand and Sand".For a time,several works on the subject of educated youth became her early representative works.In 1995,Wang Anyi’s novel "Song of Everlasting Sorrow" was published.In the same year,the representative of Shanghai School writer Zhang Ailing passed away.Wang Anyi was famous for his Shanghai theme.Therefore,she was regarded as another successor of Shanghai School writers by some researchers in the academic world.Research is more active.By interpreting some representative works written by Wang Anyi in Shanghai,this article attempts to systematically analyze several key parts of it,and explains Wang Anyi’s identification dilemma based on personal identity and its reflection in literary creation.The main body of the thesis is divided into three chapters,which are discussed through the educated youth writing,immigration writing,female writing,and the author Wang Anyi’s writing in Shanghai writing.The first chapter analyzes the embarrassment of Wang Anyi’s educated youth identity,which is divided into three sections,respectively from the creation of Wang Anyi’s educated youth theme,confirmation of educated youth identity,and reflections on herself and society in the creation related to this identity authentication.The second chapter focuses on Wang Anyi ’s difficulty in identifying with the “Shanghaier” through immigration writing and rural lookback.She analyzes her description of the image of “foreign households” such as cadres going south and nanny in the city to show her desire to integrate into Shanghai.At the same time,in her other works,she critiques the modern city of Shanghai and consciously imagines the rural peach blossoms to discover her "Shanghainese" identity contradiction,and then observes her self-identity split.The third chapter combines Wang Anyi’s Shanghai writing with female writing,and demonstrates the manifestation of her female writing in Shanghai through the female consciousness and female identity constructed in her creation,and the contradiction between her and the male speech system unique and rich connotation.
