Archaeological Study Of Bodhisattva Statues Unearthed From The Hebei Nangong Houdige

In 2006,Baishi Buddhist statues were discovered in Houdiuge Village,Ziwei Town,Nangong City,Hebei Province.The Hebei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and the local cultural relics department immediately investigated and carried out rescue excavations on the site.Unearthed a group of Buddhist statues with distinctive styles,exquisite carvings and long spans,which are mainly composed of statues like Buddha,Bodhisattva and disciple.The author is typological on the basis of observation and description of these Bodhisattva statues.Study,analyze and summarize the era and geographical features of Bodhisattva in the region.Compared with the study of Bodhisattva images unearthed in Quyang,Yucheng and Qingzhou,the Bodhisattva is similar in appearance to the Bodhisattva statues in the surrounding areas.However,it still shows the unique elements of the statues in the area,reflecting the absorption and fusion.The artistic features of regional imagery.At the same time,it laid the foundation for a comprehensive study of the Bodhisattva statues at the backyard of Nangong and the exploration of the relationship with other regions.This article is divided into the following four sections:The first part elaborates the background of the topic,including the historical background of the development of Buddhism in this area,the overview of the post-floor site and the author’s preliminary work.I combed the predecessors’ research on Bodhisattva in Quyang,Yucheng,Qingzhou and other surrounding areas,and clarified the research methods and significance of this paper.The second part is the typology study of these Bodhisattva images.Among them,the materials are white stone,bluestone and pottery.The shape is mainly divided into back screen type,squat type and round sculpture bodhisattva.The theme content is combined with the Buddha statue posture and combination.analysis.It is concluded that the number of Bodhisattva statues is small,single round,and rough and simple.It shows that the majority of civilians are mainly worshipped by the individual.The subject matter includes Guanyin,thought,earth,and shop.The third part compares the statues of the surrounding areas and divides the images of the Bodhisattva into stages,analyzing the similarities and differences of the characteristics of the times.Combined with the research results of the second part,it is believed that the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi are mainly the back-screen Guanyin Bodhisattva statues and the single-sinking Bodhisattva statues,while the Sui and Tang Dynasties are popular single-carved statues and statues.The Dongwei Buddha costumes are intricately beautiful,and the clothing patterns in the Northern Qi Dynasty are simple.The fourth part,through the interpretation of the inscriptions,studies the Bodhisattva statues such as Guanyin Bodhisattva,Sibo Bodhisattva,Dizang Bodhisattva and other special subject beliefs.On the one hand,it reflects the diversity of the Buddha theme at the time,and on the other hand,it reveals the environment behind the beliefs.Social situation.
