A Study On The Style Of Li Shan’s Flower And Bird Painting

Li Yi was one of the representatives of the Eight Eccentrics in Yangzhou in the middle of the Qing Dynasty.He was born in a family of literati and received a good education since his childhood.He is an innovative and all-around painter with bold style,unrestrained style and high achievements in poetry,calligraphy and painting.The life situation of "two reforms,fame and demotion",the desperation of official career,and the great changes in thought led to three great changes in Li’s painting style.In the early stage,it absorbed the neat,delicate and precise small script of Jiang Tingxi,Yun Nantian and Zhou Zhimian.Under the influence of Shi Tao’s "brush and ink should follow the times",he gradually changed into a bold and unconstrained style.It inherits the ink flavor of Xu Wenchang,Zhu Da and Shi Tao.It has a strong and vigorous writing style,galloping freely,and doesn’t stick to rope ink.After that,the combination of fine brushwork and freehand brushwork,the creative application of white powder color matching to freehand brushwork,the emergence of European capitalism led to the art climax of the Renaissance,the rise of capitalism in China,the emergence of Yangzhou Eight monsters and later Shanghai Painting School.In this context,Li extended the theme of flower and bird painting,using fresh fruits and vegetables or Yangzhou delicacies.The innovation in subject matter,conception and color had an important influence on the Shanghai School of the late Qing Dynasty and its descendants.The research of this paper is first through the introduction,describes the background and significance of the topic,then analyzes the research status and problems of the topic,and finally explains the research methods and ideas of the paper.In the main part,the author discusses Li’s life and artistic experience in chronological order.This paper analyzes how Li Yu innovates in the inheritance,combining his own hospital experience with Yangzhou’s literati painting,and explores the deep reason of style evolution.In the process of style evolution,three representative figures,Jiang Tingxi,Shi Tao and Xu Wei,who had a deep influence on Li’s style were extracted.To analyze the painting technique of expression,and to compare with Li Yu.In the end,the influence of "innovation" on the late Qing Dynasty,the Shanghai school and the future generations in Li Yi’s flower and bird freehand style is the best reference for us to learn the innovation of flower and bird painting.
