This paper attempts to explore the potential relationship of body experience in installation art,and sorts through the art practice of Ann Hamilton,an American installation artist,as the main case. For more than30 years,Hamilton’s installation art practice always revolves around the interaction between himself and the reality around him,and is expanded by the physical experience constructed in the works. In fact, the body experience in installation art plays a crucial role both for herself and for the audience.First of all,the first chapter will give a theoretical definition of the concept of "body experience" to a certain extent, and at the same time make a brief introduction to the background, significance and pertinence of the research. The second chapter mainly sorts out and analyzes the creative context of Ann Hamilton, and expounds the development track and evolution process of her creative practice in different stages. The third chapter, from the perspectives of "sensory experience","spatial practice" and "emotional subject",analyzes how Hamilton constructed and reconstructed the physical experience on the spot through the installation works, especially the interaction between the body with the active perception ability and the experience ability and the installation works. The fourth chapter elaborates the potential relationship and innovative exploration between Hamilton’s art practice and his theory based on Merleau-Ponty’s theory of body phenomenology. Moreover,it analyzes the unique body experience, the extended communication and sharing experience in Hamilton’s works in the social and cultural context, and further clarifies the creative significance of the latent body experience in Hamilton’s installation art works. |
