A Report On Political News Translation From The Perspective Of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory

In the process of globalization,the international situation is constantly affecting the lives of ordinary people.Information mobility among countries is increasing.China,which is increasingly open,needs to obtain more external information in order to be in line with the international community and achieve mutual benefit and win-win.At present,news has become an important carrier for information dissemination and cultural exchange between countries.It covers recent events in various fields such as education,society,military and business,and has become a main way for people to obtain hot topics and important events at home and abroad.As there are differences in language use,cultural background and reading habits between China and the West,translation is an indispensable bridge for information transmission.Proper translation can accurately and smoothly transmit news information from various countries to the target language readers.This report takes the translated texts of the current politics channel on Huanqiu platform as the research object and Nida’s functional equivalence theory as the theoretical support,discussing the guiding role of functional equivalence theory in news compilation from the lexical and sentence levels.Through analyzing translation examples,this paper fully discusses the effective combination and application of this theory with international news translation.At the same time,it evaluates and reflects on the translation process on the basis of this theory,so as to accumulate experience for future translation practice in related fields.The report includes four chapters: Description of translation tasks,which mainly introduces the background of this translation practice;Description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,specific translation process and translation proofreading;Analysis of translation cases,in which the reporter analyzes typical cases in the translation process based on Nida’s functional equivalence theory;Summary of translation practice.The reporter summarizes the translation practice from both practical and theoretical aspects.
