| Translation itself involves a wide range of contents. Many scholars have discussed vocabulary, grammar, and other common issues, but often ignore a small number of special, flexible and frequently used language structures like construction. However, few studies can deal with translation problems from the construction perspective. In the current era, machine translation has gradually become the mainstream and a new trend in the study of translation theory and practice. It is an arduous task for translators to use the convenience of machine translation to solve construction problems and produce high-quality translations.Therefore,post-editing on the basis of machine translation is particularly important. This translation practice report is based on machine translation and post-editing.The author has selected a collection of information science and technology papers,Internet of Everything: Algorithms,Methods,Technologies and Perspectives as the source material.Inspired by the construction grammar theory proposed by Goldberg, the author collects many“Of~” construction sentences and lists the translation difficulties in the source text.In addition, the author adopts the case analysis method to compare the translations of Google and Youdao, and guided by functional equivalence theory, concludes reasonable post-editing strategies like transforming sentence structure, adjusting word order, and reorganizing logical relationships from three aspects: surface equivalence, pragmatic equivalence and deep equivalence,in order to effectively improve the translation quality of “Of~ ” construction sentences.Through this practice, the author has learned about the operation mode of machine translation software like Google and Youdao, improved her language expression and post-editing ability, and has a deeper understanding of information science and technology texts and “Internet of everything”.It is hoped that the discussion of this report can provide suggestions for future translation work. |
