A Study About The Development Of Private Art Galleries In Changsha

As an outcome of China’s reform and opening-up,the development and prosperity of the private art galleries are indispensable from the country’s open mindedness and national policies.Since the private sectors have been playing a vital role in the progress of China’s socialist cultural courses,it has become a trend for the private art institutions to comparatively achieve as much as the public art institutions have done.Laws,regulations and policies at all levels in the country have been released to encourage and support the private sectors to participate in culture supply,which sends a signal to accelerate the development of private art galleries and venues as an inevitable option in the new era.However,regardless of the historical development of the upgraded context of supportive policies,or of the practices of the local governments at all levels,or of the breakthroughs for the development and prosperity of the private art galleries that have been made,these problems such as inadequacy and incompleteness in fields of systematic regulations,rights and interests security,arts ecology and value guidance still exist.The research is based on the nation’s legal basis that "the establishment of cultural venues fostered by private sectors plays an important part in socialist cultural undertakings." It is also based on the management theory that public cultural service supply is a quasi-public product.Guided by cross disciplines of public policy,public economy,museology and laws,the thesis has studied the history,realistic status and challenges,and future prospects of the development for the private art galleries in Changsha.The whole context is divided into five parts: The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the origin and the significance of the research as well as the methods of the study;the second part illustrates the definition of the core concepts and basic theories.In the third part,by approaches of historical research,literature review,field research and text analysis etc.,taking key policies that affect the private art galleries in Changsha as the main study content,it summarized the goals,effectiveness and outcomes resulted from the phases of development.In the fourth part,the thesis concludes several major problems,blind spots and the pertinent reasons.The fifth part puts forward some specific strategies for the development that need to be improved and further practiced.
