Around the initial stage of the Republic of China, the private education of Changsha was in the ascendant. As an important component part of education history of Changsha, it was all along at the forefront in Hunan, whose development had promoted that Changsha's new education came into being in modern times. This thesis will inquire into four aspects of the development of Changsha's private education which included general situation, characteristics, prosperous reasons and historial position.The thesis is divided into four parts:Part â… : around the initial stage of the Republic of China, "the educationalist groups of Changsha" arose, and they initiated lots of private schools in succession.Part â…¡: the educationalist groups of Changsha,took Hu Yuandan as the deputy, advanced many new educational principles including three following aspects: firstly, educationalists advanced guiding principles for running schools, which included overall developing personal viewpoints and aims that conformed to the historial trend of the times. Secondly, they raised educational ideas including saving the nation by education, democratic and scientific education, personality and character education, women education, and so on. Thirdly, they had unique ways for running schools, which mainly reflected as follows: strictly selecting good teachers, raising funds by every possible means, strengthening building of courses and electing efficient management system of schools.Part â…¢: analysis on the developing characteristics and prosperous reasons of the private education of Changsha.
