Metaphors In Ruined City From The Perspective Of Cognitive Linguistics

Cognitive metaphor is a cognitive science that maps from one conceptual domain to another based on national culture,life and physical experience.Metaphor is everywhere,we form it based on life experience and use it a lot in our daily life.Human cognition is always from far to near,from the shallow and deep,from the concrete to the abstract,from the known to the unknown,the law of the development of metaphor can help mankind to use more familiar and specific things,easy to understand,to understand the relative strange,abstract,disorganized and difficult to understand things,metaphor is the human to understand abstract concepts and main mechanisms of abstract thinking.This paper takes the representative work of the modern writer Jia Pingwa’s novel Ruined City as the corpus,identifies the metaphor by MIPVU,and analyzes the metaphorical phenomenon in the works.Jia Pingwa’s works extremely the aboriginality and national characteristics of Chinese novels,calm nature language,metaphor is not only the representative of the poetic imagination and rhetorical diversity,in the light of natural language,metaphor is not only ubiquitous,and is a systematic,it’s more that metaphor is not only the language level of rhetoric,but also a cognitive way of thinking.The conceptual system of human beings is metaphorical and constructed by means of metaphor.The expression form of metaphor is language.This paper first summarizes the research status,from the perspective of cognitive metaphor theory and Ruined City,and then introduces in detail the formation and development process of metaphor theory in foreign countries,as well as the development process in China.The theoretical framework of the analysis and research in this paper is constructed,and then the metaphorical phenomenon in Ruined City identified by MIPVU is presented systematically in the form of a table,and then the analysis is carried out through the four categories of body metaphor,animal metaphor,plant metaphor,color metaphor and other metaphors.Through the analysis ofmetaphor in literary works with quiet language,it is further proved that metaphor is a universal way of human cognition,and it is essentially a mapping from the source domain to the target domain.Metaphor plays an important role in the construction of human conceptual system,which can make the expression of our daily language more vivid.The understanding and mastery of metaphor is carried out under the joint action of various factors such as national culture,life and physical experience.
