| In recent years,with increasing international communication,more and more foreign literary works have come into people’s sight.Compared with other types of literature,Chinese scholars pay little attention to the translation studies of contemporary foreign popular novels and relatively few academic findings have been yielded in this area.Based on this,the author has translated the novel Rich People Problems,which was written by the Singaporean writer Kevin Kwan,as the research object of translation practice.Reception aesthetics theory is one of the most important theories in Western literary criticism and aesthetic research.It emphasizes that reception lies at the core of aesthetic practice and emphasizes the importance of readers.Hence,certain points like the “reader’s horizon of expectations” and “seeking a fusion of horizon” can be applied to translation studies.Therefore,the theory provides a guide for the translation practice.Under the guidance of reception aesthetics theory,the author completes her translation practice and yields two basic principles applicable to the translation of novels: The reproduction of original works and the fusion of horizon.Based on that,this paper summarizes the difficulties encountered in the process of translation,analyzing them from four aspects: vocabulary,long sentences,rhetoric and special style,and puts forward some translation methods.Through this analysis,the author intends to summarize the translation strategies of foreign popular novels,providing a future point of reference for translators. |
