A Project Report On C-E Translation Of Abstract Of Fiscal Support Policies Of Fangchenggang

Under the background of building the China ASEAN Free Trade Area,Fangchenggang,due to its unique location and abundant resources,has attracted a large number of foreign investors to establish industries.The Abstract of Fiscal Support Policies of Fangchenggang,as a regulatory document,has a vital role in conveying related information on fiscal support policies to foreign investors.The proper English translation of Fangchenggang’ s fiscal support policies will undoubtedly enhance foreign investors’ understanding of its investment climate and increase the possibility of investment as well as avoid or decrease economic disputes.In the long run,it is of great significance to promote the development of China’s economy.This report was finished based on the translation practice of Abstract of Fiscal Support Policies of Fangchenggang.Guided by the Functionalist Skopos theory,this paper analyzed the key and difficult parts in the process of translation such as the translation of fiscal support policy(hereinafter referred to as FSP)file names,numeral abbreviations,special sentence patterns and discourse coherence,and pointed out the translation skills that could be used in each part.The report pointed out that in order to achieve the goal of accurately conveying relevant policy information to the target language readers through the translation of policy abstracts and producing the same legal effect as that would have been achieved on source language readers,the translation of fiscal support policies should be based on the uniqueness and authority of the file name,omit the redundant information or adjust the word order;the translation of numeral abbreviations should be focused on the connotation of the original text and add some explanation to make the implicated information fully conveyed;the translation of special sentence patterns should conclude with the translation skills with universality,and turn the sentence components of the source language into those of the target language with consistency.In the translation of text coherence,the redundant information should be deleted and the necessary cohesive means should be added,hoping to provide some references for the translation of relevant texts in the future.
