With the development of China’s economy and society,China’s position in the international arena has also improved significantly.More and more foreign students choose to study Chinese in China.The Chinese pragmatic ability of foreign students has become one of the key factors to measure their Chinese level.The research on the Chinese pragmatic ability of foreign students has also become an important research topic.Because international students come from different countries and study in different majors,this makes the difference in their Chinese language proficiency.In addition,there is a lack of investigation on the Chinese pragmatic competence of foreign students in Northwest China.Therefore,this study focuses on the analysis of the Chinese pragmatic competence of Xi’an students.In this study,questionnaire and interview are used to study the Chinese pragmatic competence of Xi’an international students.The process is summarized as follows: first of all,a questionnaire on pragmatic knowledge of foreign students is designed to collect data through questionnaire;second,based on the questionnaire,interview questions are designed to record the interview process.Through the analysis of the questionnaire,it is found that: most of Xi’an International Students’ pragmatic knowledge level is in the middle,very poor and excellent;Chinese students’ pragmatic knowledge level is more solid than non Chinese students;gender also has an impact on Xi’an International Students’ pragmatic knowledge level,and female students’ pragmatic knowledge level is higher than male students’ pragmatic knowledge level.Through face-to-face interviews with Xi’an international students,it is found that: hsk4 level international students are our key teaching objects;the Chinese pragmatic ability of Xi’an international students is affected by their major,gender and voice tone;at the same time,the influence of their own personality characteristics and mother tongue culture is also an important factor in constraining their Chinese pragmatic ability.Therefore,according to the main problems in Xi’an students’ Chinese pragmatic competence obtained by questionnaire and interview,this study provides the following suggestions for improving the Chinese pragmatic competence of foreign students from the two perspectives of Chinese pragmatic competence training principle and pragmatic competence training method: in terms of Chinese pragmatic competence training principle,it is proposed to strengthen Chinese culture teaching We should pay attention to the cross-cultural comparison of pragmatics,the practice of Chinese Pragmatics,and the cultivation of Chinese thinking of foreign students.
