With the great influence of “community with a Community of Shared Future for Mankind”,more and more people realize the importance of cultural exchange.The role of translation as a bridge has become increasingly prominent,and translators need to keep learning to improve their role as a bridge builder.This paper is a practice study report on the E-C translation of From Vagabond to Journalist: Edgar Snow in Asia 1928-1941.Under the guidance of the three principles of the Constructivist Translation Theory and with different translation methods,this paper analyzes the key points from the perspective of proper nouns,compound sentences and text coherence.This report consists of five parts which are the brief introduction to the translation project and translation process,basic principles of Constructivist Translation Theory and its applicability in this project,cases study and summary.It is a biography about Edgar Snow’s experience in China and the important role he plays in the development of China U.S relations.This kind of text has the characteristics of reality and literariness,which requires the translator to ensure the objectivity and literariness of the source text.This coincides with the idea of the consistency of subjectivity and objectivity emphasized by the three principles of the Constructivist Translation Theory.Based on the cases of the source text,the report analyzes the correspondence between the three principles and this translation project and the critical guidance of the theory and its three principles in the translation project,especially in the proper nouns,compound sentences and the coherence of the whole text.It is a creative attempt to combine the Constructivist Translation Theory with the two characteristics of biographical texts.In order to figure out the theory and method of the biography translation,the author tries to understand the real meaning of the guiding theory,and uses appropriate translation methods in the process of translation.
