| This thesis is a project report of Chinese-English translation.The translation project is entrusted by Professor Su Baohua of the College of Humanities of Yangzhou University,who is a researcher of National Social Science Foundation Project of China—Metaphysics in the Wei and Jin Dynasties: Transformation of Daily Life and Reconstruction of Literary Image.The source text of this translation project introduces Chinese Yi-Xiang category and Yi-Xiang aesthetics.And the target text is expected to be a reference for the foreign exchange in Chinese Yi-Xiang aesthetics.As this translation project belongs to the humanities and social science,the exact expression of views and information is of vital importance.Hence,it is a major task for the translator to take into account responses of target readers.More specifically,the whole process of the translation is written in the thesis,including the pre-preparation,translation and quality control.The language characteristics of the source text and target text are analyzed and the theoretical guidance for the translation is discussed as preparation for the translation.In addition,in the view of translation compensation,difficulties in translation are listed into the case study,such as the quotations of Chinese ancient poetries and classical books,and the terms of philosophy and Chinese Yi-Xiang aesthetics.At the same time,their final translation versions are also discussed in these cases,so that references can be provided for the translation of other similar texts.Lastly,the experiences and limitations of this translation project are reviewed and summarized.It is the translator’s sincere hope that this translation report can be used as a useful reference for the translation of relevant texts in the future. |
