The Practical Aspiration Of The Recluse Chen Jiru

Chen Jiru is mostly defined as a recluse.After all,he was deeply aware of the darkness and decay of the society at that time,so he chose to live in seclusion.However,he did not forget the morality and responsibility of the traditional Confucian intellectuals after his seclusion.And his practical aspiration can be clearly seen in his apologies.It is true that Chen Jiru’s apologies cover a wide range of topics,such as practical learning,history,art and academics.However,his apologies on art and academics have been studied by predecessors,and are far from the paper’s focus,which will not be studied in this paper.This paper mainly studies Chen Jiru’s apologies on practical learning and history,in order to highlight his practical ability and practical aspiration.According to the content,the apologies are divided into two sections: the ones on the specific local things and the ones on the country and history at the macro level.And each part conducts further research from the ideological content and the artistic technique.The body consists of three parts.The first part mainly studies Chen Jiru’s apologies on specific local affairs.The content of the apologies is mainly focused on the political,economic,military and other specific events occurred in the Songjiang region,Chen Jiru’s hometown,especially taxes and corvée,disaster relief and anti-japanese struggle.And the apologies can distinctively demonstrate his practical aspiration.The second part mainly explores Chen Jiru’s apologies on the country and history from a macro perspective.Based on the macro vision and strategic vision,he often expressed the views on the country and history in these apologies.And they are also permeated with the Confucian spirit of helping the world.The third part mainly expounds the contradictory and complex spiritual world of Chen Jiru.It can be said that the special era that Chen jiru experienced-the age of competition between "spirit" and practice in the middle and late Ming dynasty,created his complex spiritual world.In conclusion,it is the core of Chen Jiru’s apologies to show that the practical learning and the heart of helping the world.
