Chronicles Of Chen Jiru’s Novel Activities

Chen Jiru is one of the most prestigious and representative literati in the late Ming Dynasty.Chen Jiru lived in seclusion after being beaten by two failures in the provincial examinations,and was unable to get out of office.However,he made extensive friends,most of whom were powerful and valuable.As a result,although Chen Jiru did not serve as an official,he had a great influence on the literary world of the late Ming Dynasty.Chen Jiru’s writings are rich,covering various styles and genres.Unfortunately,people have not yet completely sorted out his works,which makes the academic circles’ understanding of Chen Jiru’s literary activities incomplete.This article focuses on the perspective of ancient novels,based on the existing photocopies and collated editions of Chen Jiru’s works,searches for relevant novel historical materials,combs his novel activities and studies his novel viewpoints,in order to have a systematic and concentrated grasp of Chen Jiru’s novel activities.Then enrich and perfect the overall understanding of Chen Jiru’s literary activities.Chen Jiru’s novel activities mainly centered on novel creation,publishing and criticism.This paper mainly contains historical materials related to the activities of Chen Jiru’s novels and their development,and analyzes them as appropriate.
