This article mainly uses Bakhtin’s theory of Chronotope to analyze the different forms of Chronotope in Borges’ novels.Through the analysis of the situation of people in different time and space relationships,we could better understand Borges’ s clear understanding of his own existence and the integrity of people as a whole. The thesis is mainly divided into three parts. The first two chapters divide the time and space relationship embodied in Borges’ s novel into two types: the real Chronotope and the mysterious Chronotope according to Bakhtin’s theory. And the third part analyzes the purpose of Borges writing. The first chapter analyzes the real Chronotope written by Borges, which is expressed as real historical time and absurd space.Time and space constitute a contradictory complex that is mixed with truth and illusory, thus showing the broken experience of man in the real world.Chapter 2 analyzes Borges ’s mysterious Chronotope, which usually uses dreams or memories as the way of presentation to tell grotesque and bizarre stories. The mysterious Chronotope dismiss the concept of time, focusing on showing the carnival of the objects in space, and countering the real world through parody;Chapter 3 discusses the purpose of Borges ’ Chronotope writing. The existence of being obscured by words can only be useless in vain. But Borges was never venting negative emotions. On the contrary,he saw that people’s unremitting attempts to resist the infinite with their own strength are manifestations of meaning in themselves. For Borges himself, words are used as weapons to protect him infinitely close to the unreachable existence.
