A Report On The Translation Of Astrology And Traditional Chinese Culture From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

In the field of science and technology of ancient time,astronomy represented one of the most important disciplines.Chinese astronomical science and technology classics,covering the brilliant achievements of astronomy in ancient China,are crucial for people to carry out the research of ancient Chinese astronomy.In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics,the English translation of astronomical science and technology classics is an effective tool for China from “cultural self-awareness” to “cultural confidence”.Therefore,we need to promote the research of astronomical translation to better serve the great strategy of “Chinese culture going global”.Guided by Eco-translatology,the author selects and translates the third chapter of Astrology and Traditional Chinese Culture,aiming to promote the international communication of ancient Chinese astronomical culture.Besides,the author summarizes the translation practice and tries to propose proper translation strategies and methods of ancient Chinese astronomical literature.This practice report is mainly divided into five parts.The first part introduces the research background,purpose and significance,research text and its author,and the structural framework of the report.The second part is about the whole translation process.The third part contains the literature review and theoretical framework.The fourth part is the specific case analysis.Proceeding from linguistic,cultural and communicative dimension,the author introduces the guidance of the translation theory on the whole translation process in lexical,syntactic and textual level.The fifth part is the conclusions and experiences.The author concludes that translators can carry out translation practice under the guidance of “threedimension” principle.In terms of lexical level,the author adopts transliteration with explanation,free translation,and annotations respectively for the translation of astronomical terminologies,culture-loaded words,and proper nouns and analyzes them from three dimensions to obtain the best translation effect.In the syntactic level,the author needs to pay attention to the conversion of passive voice and combination of loose and short sentences due to the objectivity and logic of scientific English.Meanwhile,the use of future tenses is also a highlight according to the predictive characteristics of astrology.In the textual level,translators should take the language habits of English readers into consideration and consciously use substitutes and connectives for the coherence and cohesion of the translation so as to convey Chinese voice and wisdom to the world and promote international exchanges.
