| As disabled elderly people lose the ability to take care of themselves and their families,they often think that they have become a burden to their families and have lost the meaning of life.Elderly people who are more able to take care of themselves are more likely to suffer from depression and need more psychological support and care.The purpose of this study was to investigate the suitability of music therapy for depression intervention in disabled elderly people.The author used the opportunity of the internship in the welfare center of S city N to investigate the emotional state of disabled elderly people.The findings suggest that many disabled older people are depressed for the following reasons: physical discomfort and cognitive impairment,self-denial and a sense of worthlessness,social withdrawal and a low sense of presence.In this study,music therapy in the form of group therapy was used to intervene the depression of disabled elderly people in N welfare center.The researcher recruited 32 intervention subjects in N welfare center,and randomly assigned 12 subjects to the experimental group and the control group according to the voluntary principle with 6 subjects in each group for the classic experimental study.Based on the basic principle of music therapy,the intervention mode of group music therapy was adopted.Specifically,it includes the intervention methods of receptive music therapy and participatory music therapy,in which the intervention means of song discussion,music recall,music synchronization,music imagination and music muscle relaxation training are used in the method of receptive music therapy,and by means of participatory music therapy and intervention,the depression of disabled elderly people was intervened on the physiological rhythm,emotional status,self-worth and willingness of social communication of the disabled elderly to achieve the intervention goal of alleviating the depression of the disabled elderly.Empirical studies have shown that GDS-15 scores for the disabled elderly in experimental group were declined,and their depression had improved at different level,the observation and interviews over a month after the intervention also suggest that the disabled elderly improved their emotion,and had a willingness to engage with others,which showed that the music therapy has significant effect on the depression of the disability elderly. |
