Translation Report On English-Chinese Translation Of Insights From The IPCC Special Report On 1.5℃

With the rapid development of world economy and the continuous growth of energy demand,human activities have brought irreversible impact on the global climate system and social ecosystem.It is urgent for us to respond to climate change,control global warming and realize energy conservation as well as emission reduction.It’s also the responsibility and obligation of citizens,enterprises and countries all over the world.This translation practice report is characterized by numerous technical terms,complex syntactical structures as well as long and difficult sentences.In the process of translation practice,it is necessary to use corresponding translation methods according to the unique language features.The translator studied and analyzed the source text from lexical and syntactical levels.In terms of words,the translator analyzed from three aspects including technical terms,abbreviations and noun phrases.In respect of syntax,the translator analyzed some representative cases including passive voice sentences,non-finite clause as well as long and difficult sentences.Some translation strategies such as literal and free translation,splitting and reorganizing,addition and omission,and conversion translation were adopted to carry out this translation project.Through analyzing and summarizing the strategies and skills adopted in technical texts,the translator dealt with the problems and difficulties that encountered during the translation process and made conversion and adjustment according to different circumstances.The translator also improved the translation skills and better combined the translation theory with practice.
