A Report On The C-E Translation Of Fairy Tales By Lu Zhan(Excerpt)

This report is a case study of the Chinese-English translation practice of children’s literature text(Fairy Tales by Lu Zhan)(Excerpt).Based on the translation practice,the author of this report introduces the process of this translation task and analyzes difficulties encountered in translating Fairy Tales by Lu Zhan(Excerpt).The report consists of five parts.Chapter one introduces the translation task,including the task introduction,the content of source text and the significance of the translation.Chapter two is a description of the entire translation process,including the translation preparations,translation and the proofreading.In Chapter three,the author of this report makes a literature review on children’s literature translation abroad and at home.The fourth part of this report is the case analysis.Starting from three aspects of words,folk songs and sentences,the author of this report firstly analyzes the translation skills and methods of culture-loaded words,onomatopoeia words and reduplicated words encountered in the translation of the source text;then she discusses how to keep the original style of the source text,make the translation reflect child interest and how to narrow down cultural differences between Chinese and English;finally,she analyzes the translation methods in translating sentences in the source text by using the translation methods of cutting,omission and addition.At last,the author makes a conclusion on the translation task and shares some reflections on children’s literature text translation,in the hope that she can do a better job when handling with the similar texts again.
