Research On The Essence And Characteristics Of Aesthetic Expression Of Hip-Hop Dance From The Perspective Of Body Culture

In the course of its development and evolution in the past 60 years since the 1960s,hip-hop dance,which was influenced by factors such as the soil from where it grew out,and the cultural genes,has presented some specific expression elements throughout the time.Along with the changing trail of the audience,participants,and social culture,some changes have taken place on the body aesthetic expression forms of hip-hop dance.Notably,it was announced as one of the events in 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games,furthermore,on June 25,2019,of Lausanne time,it was announced as one of the events in 2024 Summer Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee,since then the relations of hip-pop dance with sports competition,society and culture have allowed more in-depth and diversified possibilities.This public-popular competitive dance style not only reflects the experiences and feels of the youth group to the un-deepened,shallow emotion generated in competitive hip-pop dance,but also fits the dormant competitive performance needs in the deep emotion of the youth group,as well as its competitive performance with superior difficulty,to a considerable extent,has made the body culture of hip-pop dance a mirror,reflecting the essence and characteristics evolutions of both the body culture and its aesthetic expression in the development of the times.This paper is majorly relying on the criteria of the "And8" evaluation system adopted by the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in the hip-pop dance competition,explores the essence and characteristics of aesthetic expression of the hip-pop dance under the vision of body culture,through the adoption of research methods such as literature study,interdisciplinary research,historical research,and video observation.First of all,the paper analyzes the socio-cultural background of hip-hop dance from the following four aspects:the cultural gene of the black people,socio-cultural soil,historical conditions,and diverse music culture.On this basis,through the up-tracking from the dual consciousness of black people in the west to the integration of national elements and hip-hop dance in the eastern countries,such as Japan and South Korea,the paper points out that freedom,the courage of self-transcendence,and the conquest of impossibilities are significant motifs of body culture of the hip-pop dance.Besides,according to the body aesthetic performance of hip-pop dance,in the vision of the movement,posture,costume and fashion,music,and aesthetic attitude of dancers,it explores and argues that aesthetic perspective of the body culture in hip-pop dance lies in"fashion-style," "street-creativity," "performance-art," and "class-power."Secondly,based on the above research contents,referring to the evaluation criteria in the "And8" evaluation system of the hip-pop dance competition,in the light of the principles of Marxist philosophy and other related discipline theories,the paper distinguishes and analyzes the subordinate relations of hip-pop dance,and investigates that the aesthetic essence of hip-pop dance lies in the expression beauty of dancers’ body movements,dancers’ body shapes,the distinctive colors of costume,the unique music rhythm,and the dancers’ attitude of body aesthetic.Depending on the distinguishing and analyzing above-mentioned on the subordination relations of hip-hop dance and the essence of its aesthetic expression,it is further concluded that the aesthetic expression features of hip-hop dance are:hip-hop culture of the body;performing arts of the body:sports-oriented body,and the personalized expression of the inner world of the youth group.Lastly,the development and enlightenment of the competitive body culture of hip-pop dance are summarized.On the one hand,in terms of the development of competitive body culture of hip-pop dance,its past development can be summarized as the lower body’s rebellion due to the long-term suffering from the attention to the upper body;while its future development promises to the emergence of a new body culture with deeper bond with the times and impact,followed by the significant influence caused by hip-pop dance’s "entrance into the Olympic Games," to the competitive body culture of hip-pop dance.On the other hand,in terms of the enlightenment of the development of competitive body culture of hip-pop dance,the significant enlightenment of its development process lies in:how can a marginal culture maintain its unique core without being alienated or digested in the process of embracing the masses and getting popularity;at the same time,how to respond to the times and echo the public vision and daily narrations as a competitive body culture.The future enlightenment of its development lies in the self-individualization under integration and innovation of the hip-hop dance that carries the attributes of the hip-pop culture,performing arts,and competitive sports;the role of encouragement to the youth group,the value of physical education,as well as ways to cultivate and maintain oneself.
