In recent years, research about emotions has been given extensive attention worldwide.Emotional skills have played an increasingly important role in improving our ability to cope with challenges and adjust our mentality and behavior. In addition, some research achievements about emotional skills abroad are worth our study and reference.Professor Marc Brackett, founding director of Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, has developed a system called RULER,which can help us to understand and control emotions quickly and efficiently. It has been proven to be efficient in thousands of schools in the United States. The source text of the translation report is from Chapter Nine and Chapter Eleven of Marc Brackett’s new book Permission to Feel:Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our Kids,Ourselves, and Our Society Thrive.Guided by the skopos theory, the translator hopes to present an accurate and coherent target text based on the comprehension of the source text.It includes four chapters.Chapter One is the task description, which briefly introduces the author, the source text,as well as the background and significance of the study.Chapter Two describes the preparations before translation, translation theory, translation procedure and the quality control.Chapter Three illustrates the cases from the lexical, syntactic and discoursal level guided by "skopos theory".Chapter Four summarizes the translation experience and the problems remaining to be solved. The translation report concentrates on the translation methods and skills about emotions, such as meaning regeneration, conversion, amplification, omission, division, reference and conjunction. It is hoped to provide reference not only for domestic researchers, but also for subsequent Chinese translations about emotions.
