Technological innovation, digitalization and globalization are among the factors influencing and changing translation theory and practice.Moving Boundaries in Translation Studies(Dam,Bragger&Zethsen,2019)provides a bird’s-eye view of recent developments and discusses their impact on discipline boundaries. Therefore, the Chinese translation of this kind of English source material is helpful to promote or even transcend our traditional understanding of translation(studies)and its boundaries. As an informative text, the original translation practice report is selected from the book Moving Boundaries in Translation Studies(Dam,Bragger&Zethsen,2019).The purpose of this report is to improve the author’s translation ability and understand the most cutting-edge translation theories. This translation report has four chapters:Chapter 1 describes the translation task, including the text source, text features, the purpose and significance of the task.Chapter 2 introduces translation preparation, translation process and quality control.Chapter 3 is the core part of this report.Under the guidance of Catford’s translation shifts theory, from the perspective of vocabulary, syntactic structure and expression, the author makes a case study of the translation from level shifts and category shifts.Chapter 4 summarizes the author’s experience, inspiration and shortcomings from this translation practice.Through this translation practice, the author has a deeper understanding of the world’s leading translation theories and improves the translation efficiency. In addition, this translation report provides valuable information for Chinese researchers in this field, hoping to contribute to their research on translation.
