In English communication, understanding the meaning of the other party is a necessary condition for a smooth conversation. For high school students,it is necessary to acquire listening skills for their studies and future interpersonal communication. However,English listening difficulties are not uncommon in middle high school. In actual teaching, students are trained in listening strategies, but listening difficulties still plague teachers and students. In a large number of literature readings,it is found that self-efficacy and learning strategies are important factors that affect learners’ academic performance. However,in the study of the correlation among self-efficacy,learning strategies and English performance, most researchers explored the correlation between two variables, and most of them took college students as subjects. In view of this, this study focused on the impact of high school students’ self-efficacy on the use of listening strategies and their listening performance, trying to find out whether self-efficacy is an important factor affecting students’ listening performance so as to put forward corresponding countermeasures for students’ listening learning. To this end,the following research questions are proposed:(1)What is the current level of high school students’ self-efficacy?(2)What is the overall situation of high school students’ use of listening strategies?(3)What is the correlation among high school students’ self-efficacy,listening strategies and listening performance?Questionnaire surveys, interviews, and classroom observations were used in the research. The professional statistical software SPSS(20.0)was applied to conduct mean comparison, independent sample t test, correlation analysis and regression analysis on the data obtained from the survey. After research and analysis, the following results are obtained: 1.The self-efficacy of high school students is generally at a medium level, and students with high listening achievements also have a high sense of self-efficacy.2.The overall use of English listening strategies by high school students is also at a medium level, among which students with higher self-efficacy use listening strategies more frequently.3.The self-efficacy of high school students can not only directly affect listening performance but also indirectly influence listening performance through listening strategies.Based on the above results, teachers should vigorously cultivate the level of students’ self-efficacy and at the same time guide and train students to effectively use listening learningstrategies to improve their listening skills and achieve truly efficient teaching.
